Here is the latest installment of cooking with MamaDB. This time we tried to make sushi, and I have to say that the results were pretty incredible and delicious. However, getting to that point was pure accident since we did a LOT wrong.
If you are interested in seeing the ingredients we used to make our California Rolls, Ebi Sushi and Salmon Egg Rolls, please take a gander over at MamaDB's blog.
Let's review:
1. In the event the knife slips, you probably don't want your hand under the avocado.
2. Fan the rice while fluffing with a fork BEFORE adding the Seasoned Rice Vinegar
3. Please put the seaweed on the bamboo BEFORE you pick up a huge handful of sticky rice.

Going to wait till Sparky gets home.
Although not something I have ever tried. Missing out eh?
I will get over it!
Have to add Soggibottom has the best chef around here.
(not me)............~Infact don't like to eat out around here. Really bad resturants. None of them have Gordon Ramsey either!!!!!
Tiff, have someone buy you a pair of fish filleting gloves. They are made of a sort of chain-mail, and protect your hands from knife slips.
Or stop picking up knives!
And Michele says that your knife skills are causing Don some serious exclamations, over here in Michigan!!!
Pure comedy.
I had visions of you using a finger while cutting that avocado. Please do not teach your children knife safety. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that your husband and/or their teachers will do that instead.
I love sushi. Bravo to you for making your own. Looks fabulous!
OK, these clips are wonderful! It makes me want to hang out in the kitchen & cook, which is quite an accomplishment. Whose idea was sushi?
Soggi: We used to eat out a LOT, so I dusted off my cookbooks to try my hand at cooking... again. Clearly, I'm out of practice.
Don: LOL! It wasn't until I saw myself that I realized what a menace I am with knives.
Michele: Oh, I can only imagine what Don is saying :).
ATBD: Right?
Meg: What's really hilarious is that I know how to verbalize correct knife-using procedure... I guess I just choose not to exercise it.
Lorraine: MamaDB and I did this once before with some hilarious results, but we always wanted to try again. Fortunately, the outcome was a lot better. Mostly, that is thanks to the online-sushi guy who has a video showing us EXACTLY what to do.
